Labyrinth of the Mind
"Unlike mazes designed to confuse, labyrinths feature a single winding path leading to the center and back out—representing self-discovery and confronting one's core."
Core Concept
An interactive text adventure that guides players through self-discovery using classical literature and symbolic spaces. Rather than focusing on winning, the experience encourages reflection and inner exploration.
The labyrinth symbolizes humanity's inward journey. Players collect three symbolic keys:
The Three Keys
- Shadow Key (🗝️): Acknowledging hidden aspects of oneself
- Light Key (✨): Embracing personal potential and worthiness
- Truth Key (🔑): Accepting your authentic narrative
Game Architecture
The experience includes 30 interconnected rooms across five categories:
- Entrance spaces
- Reflection chambers
- Challenge rooms
- Revelation areas
- Exit pathways
Four newly added symbolic locations explore impermanence, creativity, stillness, and gratitude through Heraclitus, Picasso, Rumi, and Aesop-inspired environments.
Literary Framework
The game incorporates 30+ quotes from 15+ authors including Jung, Cohen, Didion, and Campbell, using classical wisdom as emotional anchors throughout gameplay.
Achievement System
24 total achievements reward exploration, reflection, and key collection across completion, psychological depth, and secret categories.
Technical Implementation
Stack & Scale
- Stack: Python, Streamlit, SessionState, custom SVG visualization
- Scale: ~2,500 lines of code, modular architecture
- Features: Multiple endings, unlockable archetypes, accessibility options
Design Philosophy
The project demonstrates product thinking emphasizing emotional experience, meaningful choice architecture, and exportable personal journeys rather than traditional game mechanics.
